Definition of the manager’s professional profile and the Innovation director

Year: 2008

Target

  • To strengthen the innovative capacity of companies through the identification of key competences that take part in the innovative processes.
  • To identify the professional profile or profiles that, in the SME scope, can and must take part in the innovative processes.
  • To work together with the Ministry of Science and Education in the adaptation of the curriculum contents and therefore the professional profiles coming from the regulated vocational training in such a way that they have the necessary competences and abilities to actively contribute to the innovative programs in companies.
  • To trigger the training offer in the scope of innovation management.

  • The whole of Asturias enterprises, especially those which want to manage the innovation through professionals with the adequate competences.

Summary of activities

  • Previous analysis among 110 companies to establish the real competences of the Innovation Director and Manager (real profile).
  • To make a contrast between those competences and an ideal profile, defined by a group of business experts (ideal profile).
  • Publication of a previous research. 
  • Identification of the existing gaps between the real and ideal profile. 
  • Proposal and teaching of the training activities in order to cover the identified gaps (Course on Innovation Manager and Innovation technician). 
  • Drawing up a curriculum adjustment proposal, for the Administration concerned, in order to move forward in the introduction of training modules - at a vocational training level - that increase the innovative culture of our youngsters and future professionals.

Results

  • Drawing up a professional profile of Innovation Manager and Technician (see competences).
  • A final amount of 28 people trained in the identified competences.
  • Development of a pilot test on professional competence credentials, with 5 people taking part.
